Employee Spotlight: Meet Whitney Melrose

iON is excited to shine our Employee Spotlight on Senior Manager, Inside Sales – Whitney Melrose.

Shaped by her early experiences growing up on a farm in Saskatchewan, Whitney’s professional work ethic was formed from essential values instilled in her upbringing.

On the farm, she learned how today’s efforts directly impact tomorrow’s outcomes and long-term success.


Early IT Inspiration

IT was always an area of interest for Whitney. In 2004, Whitney completed certifications in accounting software programs from Northwest Regional College. Over the years, she achieved many others in IT, from storage and infrastructure to security and services.

Her job at Zentra Computer Technologies in 2009 was pivotal for Whitney’s move into her career in IT sales. She was fortunate to work with great mentors who helped her grow her IT knowledge to succeed in her position. They also helped foster her love of supporting her team and customers.

In 2013, Whitney joined Mainland Information Systems in IT sales support, acquired by Scalar Decisions, then by CDW. During her 6-year sojourn, she became the National Manager of Inside Sales for Canada, where she gained invaluable experience working with C-suite leaders and stakeholders. She also worked hard on advocating for the teams around her to ensure they received the tools and support they needed for success.


Joining iON

In 2020 when Rob Zagorsky, the founder and CEO of iON, approached Whitney and shared his vision for iON’s future growth, she jumped at the opportunity. As a vital member of the CSR team, she created an extended layer of support to the customer base and helped to improve iON’s internal sales processes by driving efficiencies and supporting tighter customer relationships.

In December 2022, Whitney was promoted to her Senior Manager, Inside Sales position. In this role, she oversees the CSR desk, and is responsible for growing the commercial team at iON. She’s excited to bring new initiatives to the CSR desk as well as the commercial space as it will ultimately lead to more success for iON’s customers.


Things Whitney Likes About iON

  • Work-From-Home Flexibility –With a young child at home, she loves that iON promotes a work/life balance to allow her to be present in all facets of her life.
  • Collaborative Company –All the members of the iON team are very willing to work together with each other and are always open to discussing issues and successes at hand.

Beyond Work

Whitney has many interests outside of work, but her passion is baking. iON team members can attest to this, having eaten some of her yummy goodies at events!

She is also very family-oriented and loves to spend quality time with her husband and daughter, especially outside being active. Whitney lives in a lake community and often spends time at the lake with her family. Other hobbies include a recent love for creating pottery on the clay throwing wheel (we may soon see many plant pots at the office), gardening, spending time at her parent’s farm, and going to the gym.

Whitney’s ability to improve sales and customer processes, her strong work ethic, and her positive, caring attitude are why iON is so happy to have Whitney on our team!
